Yes, Libra is the sign of
cooperation. Yes, Libra is the scales, of justice and equality; truth being the
light in the hard darkness. Libra has a heavy job, of keeping the world
balanced. Libra calls for a tea party in the midst of a bloody battle will play
the piano softly at a funeral and offers the other side of an argument, just to
bring peace. Libra is ruled by Venus,
and reminds us of the importance of beauty and light in the simmering uncertainty
of life.
Libra reminds us, in no
uncertain terms, of our humanity and of the necessity of living in our higher
selves. Libra needs this; in fact, the very survival of Libra depends on this
civility and ease.
Folks may find this all
unnecessary or not useful. Folks don’t realize how much this sense of balance
is the only thing that keeps us from descending into the deep depths of the
worst Humans can have inside and outside of them.
It’s no mistake that this is
the equinox that happens between the Summer Solstice and the Winter Solstice;
this equinox is that pivotal time of year between the when the Sun is it’s
brightest and closest, and when the Sun is abandoning us. This is the equinox
that demands we get rid of all the crap we have accumulated in the past 12
months in order to make room for what we reap during this harvest time. Libra
hates to waste the pretty, and disorder throws a Libra into a sort of madness.
Libra’s ruler Venus, in the ancient
world was also known as a Goddess of War. The shadow side of Libra is when these
needs are not met. It’s not pretty. It’s a lot of slicing and dicing with a
sharp sword while giving a smile. A dark Libra will withdraw all love and
affection, be fractious and argumentative. A dark Libra will lie and manipulate to get to
the needed results. A dark Libra will spend all their money, and yours too. A
dark Libra can and will deliver painful justice. It may not be immediate; but a
scorned Libra is crafty and sadistic enough to drop the boom at a moment that
they sense will do the most damage.
We had Saturn in Libra from
September 2009 until November 2012; most of us got to see dark Libra more often
than not…until dark Libra learned that she can’t control people or humanity;
all she can do is be herself…her glittering beautiful self. In her true form
she offers salvation. This was Saturn’s hard learned gift to Libra. Now that
Saturn is in Scorpio, the lesson here is to be in touch with all of our
emotions; the horrific and the beautiful ones. This transit will teach us how
to use our power responsibly and with compassion. Heck, it’ll even show some of
us how to have the necessary rebirth we need to keep on living.
Astrologically we have a
tough couple of months ahead. It will be different for everyone, but the world
is waking up to the way things really are. Nearly every planet in the cosmos is
encouraging us to have a fire sale (everything must go!) type of energy. Our
lives are no longer about getting by; it’s about the necessity of a complete
overhaul.
Use the energy of the equinox
to figure out what needs to go and what you need to keep; Libra will help you
access with wisdom which way to go. Wherever Libra is in your chart is the parts
of you that will keep your world on even keel will the sky is falling.
